The Top Ten Leadership Habits and Limitations

We have worked with over 1000 leaders in Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Dubai, London and San Francisco, including many expatriate leaders from other countries in these places. Typically, these leaders came from a range of sectors, including Technology, Finance, Pharmaceuticals, Medical manufacturing, Tertiary and Online Education, Food and Agriculture, Manufacturing and Heavy Engineering and were the most senior leaders in their country or region (Asia Pacific or Middle East).

In early 2024, we ran a research project where we analysed over 200 individual development plans (IDPs) from leaders based in these countries to understand what exactly they were working on in their attempts to become more effective leaders.

That research surfaced the top ten leadership habits leaders were growing or cultivating and the experiments they were using to achieve those outcomes. It also revealed the top ten limitations to effective leadership these leaders were encountering and the exact experiments being deployed to overcome these limitations.

Here is a video featuring Padraig (Pod) O’Sullivan explain what effective leadership development looks like and outlining the Ten Habits and Limitations.
